The Union County Community Arts Council is a nonprofit cultural arts organization that promotes the arts as an essential component of community life in Union County. When founded in 1980, the Council’s purpose was to enhance the quality of life for Union County residents through a broad range of arts programming.

Now, years later, the Council continues to provide exemplary cultural arts programs and services and makes the arts accessible to all people.

Key to our arts education is our emphasis on programs in the schools, adult care facilities, daycare centers and support of our area artists. Take a look at our cultural arts programs and services. You may learn that the arts are alive in Union County!

Arts in Education Programs and Services

A total of 53 schools are currently being served in Union County. We find that our services are vital to the overall learning process of our children. Data supporting the benefits of arts education are documented in the NC Arts Council’s ”The Arts in North Carolina” publication. Students who participate in educational arts activities are:

. Four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement

. Four times more likely to participate in math and science fairs

. Three times more often elected to class offices within their schools

. Three times more likely to win an award for school attendance

Students all across Union County will directly benefit from the Union County Community Arts Council’s arts focus. With the endorsement of the Union County Public School board, superintendent, administrators and teachers, the Council continues to enrich and deepen the cultural education of our children.

Students in all Union County elementary, middle and high schools receive cultural arts programs and services that enhance North Carolina curriculum guidelines and serve students by promoting character and moral development, fluency and provide tools and strategies that help contribute to a lifetime of interpersonal skills.

We invite you to join us as we continue to present a diverse array of arts in the schools programs each year. Since 1980, our programs have enriched and deepened the learning experience for our children.
